El Dr. Lluis Montolui impartirá una charla sobre "La Curiosidad como motor del Area Científica", el viernes 15 de Noviembre en Murcia, el Dr. Montolui es un prestigioso científico galardonado con numerosos premios por sus investigaciones y ha sido el pionero en España en el uso de la tecnologia CRISPR de edición genética, para la investigación de enfermedades raras.

Los investigadores del grupo de Cardiogenética de la Universidad de Murcia (UMU) y el Instituto Murciano de Investigación Biosanitaria (IMIB) María Sabater y Juan Ramón Gimeno han obtenido una ayuda dotada de un millón de euros para mejorar el diagnóstico y tratamiento de la miocardiopatia hipertrófica, una enfermedad cardiaca hereditaria que afecta a una de cada 500 personas.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is characterized by an increase in cardiac thickness that cannot be explained by abnormal loading conditions alone. This heart disease can manifest itself in various ways, one of them, as obstruction of the left ventricular outflow tract, causing in many cases a significant obstructive gradient that impacts the patient's quality of life.
